Mallory Tafoya, Choral Director
Ms. Tafoya is very excited to be starting her sixth year on the faculty at Woodland Middle School at Euharlee! She is from the county next door, born and raised in Woodstock, GA. She realized that her passion in music was leading her to pursue a career as a chorus teacher when she was in middle school.
In her time at WMSE, choirs under Ms. Tafoya's direction have performed at SunTrust Park (now Truist Park), the Board of Education, and several community events. They consistantly earn Superior ratings at both GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluations and the Festival Disney competition in Orlando, FL. The WMSE 8th Grade Chorus has received the Festival Disney Silver Mickey Award twice and the Festival Disney Best in Class Award once.
Ms. Tafoya is currently the GMEA District VII Choral Co-Chair and performs with the Cherokee Chorale. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education, Choral, from Georgia Southern University. While attending GSU, she was a member of the auditioned Southern Chorale, with whom she competed in two international competitions, in Kentucky (2013) and in Budapest (2016). Ms. Tafoya also was a member of the a cappella ensemble, Fermata the Blue, and the University Singers. She was in the choruses of several opera productions, including Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute) and Strauss' Die Fledermaus (The Bat).
Ms. Tafoya is currently coaching the Freshmen volleyball team at Woodland High School. Go Wildcats!
